My path

I took this photo on my mountain bike while riding in the Shawnee National Forest in October of 2003. It's always stirred something deep inside me, but I never pinned down what or why until recently. I'm in a confusing time right now. Life is changing for me and I don't know what's going to happen next. What I now see in this photo is that I'm sort of lost in the woods, it's dark and shadowy around me, but there's a path. The path leads out of the shadows and into the brilliant sunshine. The sunshine is just ahead of me but I'm not quite there yet. I can see it, almost feel its warmth. I can't wait for it to embrace me. Something is waiting for me there, waiting to accept me and cherish me. I don't know what it is yet, but it's tangible. I can almost reach out and touch it. Just a few more steps.........
